Ibotta Review: My account got locked

I'm sure many of you have heard of the Ibotta app. For those of you who haven't, I'll let you know what it's about. In the simplest of terms, Ibotta is a rebate app. There's a list of cash-back offers for several retailers and you select the ones you plan on purchasing. After you buy the items, you upload your receipt and scan the bar codes of the qualifying items, and then you get the rebate. To sweeten the deal, Ibotta will give you $20 once you have two friends sign up and they each redeem an offer. Sounds easy enough, right? Wrong! Well, at least for me it's wrong, I redeemed a few offers and bugged two of my friends to join. The rewards came to my account fairly quickly, which I thought was a plus. Then came time for me to cash out. When it comes to any kind of online money-making gig, I always make it to the lowest tier of cashing out and then attempt to withdraw. Why do I do this? Because I don't want to waste time on an app that could potentially not pay out.
You shall not pass! Neither will your cash!
I made it to $22, attempted to cash out, and recieved this lovely message. My account was now locked. There was no explanation. There was no warning. I was simply "locked" and was sitting there confused. I had not violated any of the terms of service. Well, unless bugging your friends to join counts. You are given no recourse other than to contact customer support. So, that's what I did.
Thank you for holding ... And holding ... and holding
It's been three days for me, and I haven't heard anything back from customer support. As of the writing of this blog, the current wait time for a response is five days. I will keep you guys posted on what happens. I hear that this is happening to a lot of people since the fall of last year. Has this happened to you? Were you able to resolve it?
